Scope of testing
14 peptides as lyophilised powder, identity by LC–MS and purity by RP-HPLC–UV. Analytes validated: 0 of 14; a row reads Validated only where a signed validation report exists.
- Validateda signed validation report exists; the date is shown
- In validationthe first validation run is logged; the signed report is not yet complete
- Not yet validatedthe method is written; its validation has not started. The badge changes to In validation when the first validation run is logged, and to Validated when the signed report exists
- LOQlisted per analyte once measured on our own instrument, in our own matrix, once one is installed; none has been yet
- †Not yet checked against the CAS registry.
- ‡Quoted mainly by sellers; not yet checked against the CAS registry.

Limit of quantitation
A limit of quantitation is specific to the method, the instrument and the matrix it was measured in. The column is filled from our own validation data and carries the date of the measurement; until then it is left blank rather than copied from a vendor application note or a published paper.
If you need a limit that has not yet been established for your analyte, ask before you ship.
What validation means here
- Specificity: the analyte peak is resolved from its known impurities and from the blank, and what it was not resolved from is recorded.
- Linearity across the working range, with the correlation coefficient and the residual plot retained.
- Repeatability and intermediate precision, reported as relative standard deviation rather than as a single figure.
- Accuracy, as recovery of the reference standard at three levels, for mass per vial; the working range; and solution stability over the length of a sequence.
- Limit of detection and limit of quantitation, measured rather than inferred from a signal-to-noise rule of thumb alone.
- A signed report, dated, naming the analyst. That signature is what marks a method validated.
